Straw Bales
AIR WASHED & HEAT TREATED, CFIA APPROVED
Cereal straw is selected for its white clean look and smell. It is compacted into a small bale that is easy to handle and spread. As it is dried, heat treated and air washed, it has exceptional moisture absorption and outperforms wood shavings and in your stall coverage. It has been sized to allow for picking if needed. The straw is re-cleaned through the dust removal system. This reduces the dust and weed seeds inherent in farmer baled straw. This material biodegrades faster than wood options.
Cereal straw is the traditional bedding used in the equine industry. It is know for its warmth and draining ability. Besides creating a convenient efficient delivery system, this product is passed through a tumble dryer and air fanned to remove dust, pollen and mold. They also add a natural plant material from crop residue that increases the products absorbency.
The process heat treats the straw to re-move insects and other contaminants that try to make a straw bale a comfortable winter home. In passing the straw through an air wash it is able to remove other heavy contamination such as stones, bones and metal.
The straw is dried to below 10% moisture to improve its bedding performance.
The straw bedding delivery system is designed for those horse owners who need the quality and convenience that processed straw can offer. We want to deliver best quality on a just in time basis to horse owners who need the benefit of consistent on time delivery. The packaging offers efficient transport and no manual bale handling. Pallets of hay are wrapped to allow temporary outside storage. As the foot-print of a pallet of straw is small inside storage does not take much space.
Straw can make great mulch, defer water from newly planted seeds/young plants, or create cold frames, garden paths, bale gardens, or new garden beds. Setting the bale upward cut side out, allows the straw to decompose while your plants benefit from the nutrients derived from decomposition.
Once the straw has started to rot, plant your vegetables in a soil row. But why?
Straw is an all-natural mulch
